This article was originally written many years ago by Larry Hayden to explain to people who are regularly giving their hard-earned money to "rent" hotel rooms, that there is a smarter way to vacation.
For about the same money as it would cost to “rent” a few vacations in a nice hotel, accommodations can be owned forever in a deeded vacation timeshare condo that exchanges via computer to resorts virtually anywhere in the world!
Timesharing is now more popular than ever! The largest and most respected companies in the resort industry are now selling timeshare resort condos. Marriott, Wyndham, Hilton & Disney have produced blistering sales statistics, among others. The fact that strong consumer legislation now governs the timeshare industry, combined with the fact that solid developers are now the rule, has given the timeshare industry the stability once only accorded to luxury hotels.
1. No Bill at Checkout
Timeshare owners are delighted when they check out at the end of their week's stay, because their bill is ZERO! (And zero for the rest of their lives because they OWN their accommodation as deeded property) The money saved here quickly pays back the low initial purchase price when a Timeshare is purchased on the resale market for as little as $1.
Of course an annual maintenance fee applies to most Timeshare ownerships, but with the proper research, even this will fall well below what one would normally spend on staying in a hotel room for the same time period.
2. Better than a Hotel Room
As opposed to being a hotel room renter, enjoy status and fine treatment as a condo owner. It's a much higher style of vacation. Condos are spacious, have full kitchens and multiple private bedrooms. It's also not possible to rent 2 and 3 bedroom hotel rooms during peak season without paying thousands per night. The MF will be recouped after the first night in many cases. Paying with hotel points is astronomical, also the chances of obtaining an upgraded room at a hotel is significantly less than when staying at a Timeshare resort.

Feeding an entire family while on vacation is easily one of the most expensive costs for your entire trip. Because most timeshares have full kitchens, a family can easily save $100 a day by not dining in expensive restaurants for every meal. Stock-up the refrigerator and relax, even enjoy a midnight snack that doesnt involve walking to a vending machine - it's just like home!
