Exit Options for Hyatt Vacation Club Timeshares

Options to exit a hyatt/welk timeshare

Search “Exit or get out of Hyatt timeshare” and you’ll immediately see dozens of companies promising a guaranteed escape.

Radio ads. TV commercials. Paid Google ads dominating the top search results. These companies spend heavily on marketing — for good reason - Its effective!

The part most owners don’t realize? These “timeshare exit” companies charge thousands of dollars to help you do something you can to handle yourself as a Hyatt owner.

The real reason this industry thrives is simple: Owners don’t find Timeshare Users Group (TUG) first.

How do I get rid of my Hyatt Vacation Club Timeshare?

Just like with any other Timeshare, owners have 3 options available to them:

This article will discuss all 3 of these options in broad detail, but if more personal help or questions are needed you can find them covered regularly in other as well as the TUG Hyatt Vacation Club owner forums if you wish to look into those further!

How do I give my Hyatt/Welk Timeshare back?

Hyatt advertises an exit/surrender program to allow existing Hyatt owners to exit their ownership by giving it back to Hyatt directly!

This program can be found here Hyatt Exit homepage and includes both an email, and direct phone number to contact Hyatt directly to discover what your options are working directly with Hyatt.

This seems too good to be true, whats the catch?

While there is no "catch", there are two requirements for an owner to be eligible to use this program

Unfortunately not all ownerships qualify, and many existing welk (now renamed hyatt) owners find themselves being told they cant even give their ownerships back, but it costs nothing to reach out and ask! Only takes one yes to end your ownership!

If it is so easy, why don't more owners use it?

Quite frankly, many Hyatt Vacation Club and Welk owners simply don’t realize that official surrender or exit options may already exist directly through the developer. While Hyatt may communicate these programs to some owners, they are understandably not spending millions of dollars advertising ways for people to leave their ownerships.

Upfront-fee timeshare exit companies, on the other hand, aggressively market their “services” online, on television, and across social media because that is how they make their money. Thousands of owners searching Google for help are immediately flooded with ads promising a fast, guaranteed, or stress-free exit.

What many owners are never told is that they may already have options available directly through Hyatt or that you can do yourself (see below) — without paying thousands of dollars to a third-party company, or anything at all!

Think about it logically: if owners knew they could potentially handle the process themselves with a simple phone call or email, why would they pay a company thousands of dollars to do it for them?

Am I truly out of my Hyatt Timeshare?

Yes! Once you have completed the process of surrendering your Timeshare Ownership back, you are no longer an owner and no longer have any yearly maintenance fee obligations!

This is hard to believe, can you prove this program works?

Absolutely! This program was just recently announced and was first announced on TUG back in March 2020. Since then Owners have discovered this info thru TUG and successfully ended their Hyatt ownerships! You can view the full discussion thread here that is still active with owners finding it every single week! How to give or sell back your Hyatt Timeshare.

These are the lucky ones like yourself, unfortunately the rest likely pay some random company a fortune to do something they could have done themselves working directly with!

What if I don't want to just give it away?

While many Hyatt/Welk Timeshares have little to no resale value and in these cases it does appear Hyatt will make you an offer to buy your timeshare from you if it still has value! Alternatively (check out our other articles for more info on this) it could be offered up on the resale market to net some money to you as an owner if you chose to sell it vs give it back to Marriott!

If you wish to investigate this route, we would suggest starting with our How to Sell your Timeshare Guide for more details on how to sell your Timeshare yourself without paying large upfront fees and without being scammed!

This article however was expressly written to let more owners know about this program as a legitimate option to get out of a Hyatt Residence Club ownership!

For Hyatt/Welk owners, chances are your ownership has no realistic resale value at all and your options are almost always limited to trying to offer your ownership up for free to see if anyone might be willing to take it off your hands! TUG provides a free solution for this here: Give away your Timeshare for Free

Can I just stop paying for my Hyatt Timeshare?

If you have exhausted all other options and or you still owe a loan balance, all owners are able to exit an unwanted timeshare by simply defaulting on the payments. While not an appealing option at face value, every owners situation is different and you may discover that this is the "least bad" option for you.

This is such an important topic for Hyatt/Welk owners that we created a full video explaining your real options, common mistakes, and how to avoid paying thousands to upfront-fee exit companies.

The Final Word on Getting out of an unwanted Hyatt/Welk Timeshare!

Despite what any other company tells you (remember, these companies rely on misleading you in order to get your business, telling you the truth is not profitable in the Timeshare industry), this is an official Hyatt program, and you are dealing directly with them and not some 3rd party. The other option an exit or cancellation company provides to you is to tell you to stop paying, this is something you can also do yourself at no cost!

We urge any Hyatt Timeshare owner who has reached the end of their Timeshare lifetime to investigate this option as a solution to dispose of an unwanted Timeshare!
